The one pet peeve I have however, is how lately, a lot of the same misspellings are popping up throughout these folks' blogs. Now don't get me wrong I also type fast and miss most of the misspells that I throw out there, so I'm not guilt-free. However, these are not the type of fast typing mistypes you'd expect. These are the classic misspellings that all kinds of english class and writing class teachers (or seminar faculty) will point out to you as red flags to always watch for.
Here's the list:
- It's and its -- it's means it is (it's too late -- as in the OneRepublic/Timbaland song), its means it belongs to it (the dog stays close to its owner)
- They're and there -- they're means they are (the're so fun to be around), there means over there (I told you to look at the guy over there)
- Complimentary and complementary -- complimentary means for free (with my compliments madam), complementary means it's a good fit or match (your brown pants complement the gold sparkly shirt very well)
- Where and were -- where refers to a location (where are we?), were refers to a state of being in the past tense (we were happy, but not anymore)
:o)

If you haven't already, you must read Lynne Truss' "Eats, Shoots and Leaves." I have never laughed so hard, or felt so self-righteous, over a book about puncuation and grammar.
I shall give it the book a looksie, thank you for the suggestion! I definitely need a laugh today to kick off my weekend ;o)
Just thought I'd point out that another common misspelling is "mispell". I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but find it ironic (and a bit funny) that you didn't catch this.
Darryl, were' all human. It's just that sometimes the pent-up ranting energy turns into cryptonite to good spelling.
Amen.
