Blackwell is accessible for camping from May until September, on Fridays and Saturdays, and extra days on holiday weeks within those months.

The cost for a camp ground is $20 for DuPage County residents and $30 for non-residents. Firewood should not be brought in--a rule to prevent the spread of emerald ash borer--but bundles of firewood are available for sale at $5 each.
Each camp ground comes with a gravel parking area, picnic bench, fire pit, and some sites come with crushed rock tent pads. Each site can accommodate up to eight adults and two tents. Each space is a short walking distance from the restrooms, showers, water source, garbage disposal area, and recycling bins.
You can obtain your camping permit by purchasing onsite with cash but they're subject to availability. Another option is to pay in person, by mail, phone, or fax at the visitor services area of the district office on Naperville Road in Wheaton IL.
I found out that across the lake by Main Drive (center-left area of map) there is a boat rental place, in case folks run out of camping and hiking activities. I honestly can't wait to get there in May! I'm rearing to go :o)
